Caseville Cheeseburger Festival Returns August 14-23

Caseville’s Cheeseburger Festival returns August 14–23, bringing ten days of burgers, beach contests, live music and plenty of wonderfully weird Michigan fun.

The festival kicks off today, August 14, with a golf outing, the Best Cheeseburger Contest at 4 p.m., Flamingo Toss and Jim Asbell & the Tropaholics at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday Brings the 5K and Conch Honk

Saturday, August 15, is packed with activities. The Cheeseburger 5K starts at 9 a.m., followed by a craft show, sandcastle contest, cornhole and Firehouse Burgers. The 5K costs $30 in advance or $40 on race day.

Then at 9 p.m., it’s the Annual Key North Conch Honk Contest, which is exactly as ridiculous as it sounds.

Family Fun Takes Over Sunday and Monday

Sunday brings Free Family Fun Day from noon–3 p.m. at Wooded Island II, with inflatables, face painting, a petting zoo and pony rides. There’s also the annual chicken dinner.

Then on Monday, kids take over with the Kiddie Parade, flamingo races, bingo and a water balloon toss.

Tuesday Gets Weird With Frog Jumping

The Cheeseburger Eating Contest is on Tuesday, along with golf cart decorating, hula hoops, limbo and the Frog Jumping Contest at 4:30 p.m.

Bring your own frog. Yes. Really.

Wednesday Is the Big Parade Day

Wednesday is Parade Day, with chalk art, another eating contest, live music and the Parade of Tropical Fools at 5:30 p.m.

Thousands of people flood downtown Caseville to see the incredibly crazy and creative floats, making this one of the biggest days of the entire festival.

Mud, Margaritas and Cardboard Boats

Thursday brings Kids’ Safety Day, foam parties and the legendary Mud Bath at 4 p.m. Bring towels. Friday, August 21, brings Air Margaritaville to the amphitheater at 7:30 p.m.

Then Saturday, August 22, features beach volleyball, sandcastles, steel drums, the Cardboard Boat Race at 4 p.m. and Jimmy & the Parrots at 7:30 p.m. Finally, Sunday, August 23, closes the festival with a Classic Car Show and the Great Duck Race.

Most Caseville Festival Events Are Free

Most events are free. Amphitheater concerts require a festival button or day wristband, while a few contests have their own entry fees according to MyMichiganBeach.com.

And remember, Caseville has roughly 800 residents, while the festival can attract crowds in the six figures. Plan your parking ahead of time, especially for Parade Day. Because nothing says 'tropical getaway' quite like circling downtown Caseville for 45 minutes looking for a parking spot.
